The Hong Kong Jockey Club will stage the Hong Kong Elite Athletes Raceday at Sha Tin Racecourse on 27 December (Monday) in recognition of the outstanding performance of local athletes. It will also recognise the invaluable work of the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) on the eve of its 30th anniversary as well as its contributions to the sports sector.

With Christmas around the corner, The Hong Kong Jockey Club invites the public to join its new online Gifting for Good initiative to support The Community Chest of Hong Kong (“the Community Chest”) and its member agencies. Today (6 December), Club Chairman Philip Chen and the Community Chest Campaign Committee Co-Chairman Paulo Pong took part in the lighting of the Giving Tree at the Parade Ground at Tai Kwun. The event also symbolised the official start of the initiative.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club is committed to promoting a healthy community and sports, and has a long tradition of supporting sports development in Hong Kong at both the community and elite levels. To continue to provide the public with a diverse range of high-quality sports facilities, the Club's Charities Trust funded South China Athletic Association (SCAA) with a donation of over HK$170 million to support the redevelopment of its multi-purpose stadium and the refurbishment of its golf driving range.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club announced today (21 November) that Dr Gabriel Leung will join the Club on 18 July 2022 as Executive Director, Charities and Community (Designate).

One of the most important periods in child development is from infancy to the age of six. Factors favourable to growth and long-term brain development include an all-rounded education, family support, and physical and mental well-being. Converging global evidence shows that children from families with low socioeconomic status tend to have limited resources and receive insufficient support in areas such as medical and healthcare.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club announced today (8 November) that Mr Ramez Younan will join the Club on 15 November 2021 as Executive Director, Information Technology and Sustainability (Designate). He will assume the role of Executive Director, Information Technology and Sustainability from 1 January 2022, succeeding Mr Christoph Ganswindt upon his retirement. Mr Younan will be a member of the Board of Management and report directly to the Club’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges.

The three-day 9th Global Conference of the Alliance for Healthy Cities (AFHC), occurring online, started today (3 November).

The Hong Kong Jockey Club has long been committed to nurturing the talent of Hong Kong’s young people; individuals who will one day lead our community and contribute to its betterment. This is the objective of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarships, which over the last 23 years have established a special identity and vision, founded on principles of leadership and community service.

The Jockey Club Global Graduate Tower of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) officially opened today (25 October). It provides much-needed hostel space in a green environment for postgraduate students to interact, inspiring them to utilise science and technology to serve the community by participating in different activities. The building’s construction was funded by a HK$176 million donation from the Club’s Charities Trust, and aligns with the Club’s steadfast efforts to nurture talent and its longstanding support of local educational institutions.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club is committed to positive ageing and elderly care and to improving the quality of life of citizens as they age. To empower the elderly to live in their own homes as long as possible, the Club’s Charities Trust has approved donations of HK$167 million to support the city’s first one-stop gerontech service, the Jockey Club “age at home” Gerontech Education and Rental Service. The four and a half year pilot project is being implemented with four charity partners.
