The Club has supported equine sports in the Mainland since 1986, donating horses to equestrian sports teams and organisations and providing training in veterinary care and stables management.

In 2015, the Club signed a memoranda of understanding for strategic cooperation with the Chinese Equestrian Association (“CEA”) and the China Horse Industry Association (“CHIA”). The Club has since shared technical expertise and implementation experience in racing control and regulation with the CEA. This includes assistance to revise the CEA’s rules of racing and training sessions for officials to enhance the management of racing. As regards the CHIA, the Club’s long-term endeavour is to play a key role in developing an effective doping control programme, to support horse care and veterinary training as well as to help with the development of the Mainland’s stud book.

In 2020, the Club signed an agreement with the CEA to support the development of a high-quality education programme for coaches, riders and stable managers. The tailor-made programme is specifically designed to meet the needs of the Chinese equestrian industry. The Club is also providing funds for the CEA to roll out and deliver the programme nationwide.

In 2022, as part of its Hong Kong Equestrian Performance Programme, the Club began recruiting young athletes (aged 12-25) who are Hong Kong passport holders based in the Mainland to join its Youth Squad in the Mainland. The programme is designed to further expand the talent pool of young equestrian athletes, who will train and compete both in Hong Kong and the Mainland.

In Guangdong, the Club funded the construction of an international standard equestrian competition arena as well as the renovations of stables and training infrastructure at the Guangdong Huangcun Sports Training Centre to support equine sports development.

The Club has sponsored the Guangdong Equestrian Association since 2017. The sponsorship includes The Guangdong Provincial Equestrian Tournament – The Hong Kong Jockey Club Cup Final at Guangdong Huangcun Sports Training Centre, equestrian promotion programmes, and equestrian related technical and interest cultivation programmes.
