According to the latest research, one-fifth of Hong Kong’s population lives in poverty. To address this issue, and in particular to uplift low-income households living in transitional housing, The Hong Kong Jockey Club announced today (20 April) the launch of JC PROJECT LIFT, with an approved donation of HK$ 720 million from its Charities Trust.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club announced today (11 April) that it has offered over HK$2.5 million in immediate assistance through the Social Welfare Department (“SWD”) to meet the urgent needs of people injured in the Jordan Road fire yesterday as well as to the families of the deceased.

Early childhood is a formative stage in any child’s development. Yet young children from disadvantaged backgrounds often lack the opportunity to explore, grow and develop and so achieve their full potential. This not only affects their healthy growth, but can also perpetuate intergenerational poverty over the longer term.

Tomorrow sees the opening of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: The Ancient Civilisation of the Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties in Henan Province exhibition at the Hong Kong Museum of History. Solely sponsored by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, it is the first in the General History of China Series of exhibitions organised by the Hong Kong Museum of History. Featuring over 150 sets of precious artefacts, including some classified as grade-one national treasures, it will provide a vital insight into a formative period of China’s history during its earliest dynasties.

Tomorrow will see the opening of a major Club-supported exhibition at the Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM). The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: YUAN MING YUAN—Art and Culture of an Imperial Garden-Palace will provide an unparalleled insight into the Yuanming yuan, also known as the “Garden of All Gardens”, which was destroyed towards the end of the 19th century, with only ruins remaining today.

The ever-popular Hong Kong Flower Show opened today at Victoria Park, bringing a welcome touch of colour to the city. With the theme “Floral Joy Around Town”, featuring the colourful Angelonia as the theme flower, this year’s show, organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, will run until 24 March. Once again, The Hong Kong Jockey Club is delighted to be a major sponsor, the twelfth consecutive year of support for this celebration of spring through its Charities Trust.

Hong Kong is increasingly a city of pet-lovers, with more than 10% of families now owning a domestic pet. Unfortunately, with rising ownership comes the risk of pets being ill-treated or abandoned, while stray animals are potentially a public health risk through the spread of zoonotic diseases.

Today (8 March) saw the opening of the CLAP@JC Conference, a two-day forum at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre bringing together eminent speakers from Hong Kong and overseas to discuss the career and life development needs of young people.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) and the Institute of Philanthropy (“IoP”), a charitable organisation established by the Club and its Charities Trust, are pleased to jointly announce today (4 March) the signing of three co-operation agreements in support of health initiatives announced in the Chief Executive’s 2023 Policy Address. Under these initiatives, the Club will provide HK$3 billion to strengthen epidemic preparedness in Hong Kong and to enhance regional co-operation in the Greater Bay Area for joint prevention and control.
