The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is pleased to announce today (10 May) the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) with the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 Organising Committee (“HAGOC”) under which the Club will provide technical support for the equestrian events of the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games.

Jointly performed by the China National Opera House and the Hong Kong Orchestra, the East Meets West Opera Gala will be held for two consecutive nights starting tonight (6 May) at Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall. The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is delighted to be the sole sponsor of the concert as a “Special Supporting Organisation”, making a significant contribution to cultural and arts cooperation and exchange between the Mainland and Hong Kong. The Club has also invited local youth and cultural arts groups to enjoy the performances.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“Club”) announced today (5 May 2023) the signing of a Supplemental Framework Cooperation Agreement with the Chinese Equestrian Association (“CEA”). The agreement takes forward the Framework Agreement signed in 2020, further expanding the scope of collaboration and extending the period of cooperation to jointly promote and support the development of speed racing and equestrian industry in the Mainland.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club is delighted to support the French May Arts Festival, the twelfth year in which the Club’s Charities Trust has been its Major Partner. With the theme of PULSARTE, this year’s festival, which runs from April to July, features a wide range of arts programmes and educational initiatives. One of the highlights is Virtually Versailles, the world’s first and only official touring exhibition exploring the Palace of Versailles, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is being staged with major support from the Club’s Charities Trust.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club announced today (15 April) the launch of JC VOLUNTEER TOGETHER, a major HK$300 million initiative to promote volunteerism in the community. The announcement was the highlight of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Day, which returned after a three-year absence due to the pandemic. With the theme “Racing for Charity - Citywide Volunteerism”, the event, which was held at Sha Tin Racecourse, was attended by over 200 representatives. Officiating were HKSAR Government Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun, Club Chairman Michael Lee, Club Deputy Chairman Dr Eric Li, Club Chief Executive Officer Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges and JC VOLUNTEER TOGETHER Advisory Committee Convenor Professor Stephen Cheung.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club offers its warmest congratulations to the Hong Kong Rugby Union on the success of the Hong Kong Sevens, which concluded this evening (2 April) with an awards ceremony at Hong Kong Stadium.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club is a strong supporter of the HKSAR Government’s Strive and Rise Programme, launched in October last year and which aims to foster the personal development of secondary students from low-income families. The Club is a vice-chairperson of the Partners’ Board and is providing financial support. In addition, some of the Club’s employees have become volunteer mentors, sharing their expertise and experience with students.

On 8 March 2023, Hong Kong Jockey Club Chairman Michael Lee, CEO Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, and Executive Director, Corporate Affairs Raymond Tam paid a courtesy call at the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (“CLO”). This was followed by the signing of two collaboration agreements between The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“HKJC”) and the CLO, namely the CLO-HKJC Collaboration Agreement for Sports, Cultural and Arts Initiatives and the CLO-HKJC Collaboration Agreement for Youth Initiatives.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: “Joan Miró - The Poetry of Everyday Life” exhibition, exclusively sponsored by The Hong Kong Jockey Club, will be held at the Hong Kong Museum of Art from 3 March until 28 June. Together with artists Picasso and Dalí, Miró is known as one of the “three greats of Spanish modern art”. Miró turned ordinary objects such as strings and dry leaves into extraordinary artworks. He is also known for his use of colourful geometric shapes and simple lines to create whimsical works that even children can easily engage with. Through this exhibition, visitors can learn how Miró’s work epitomises the interconnection of art and life.

The 39th Asian Racing Conference (ARC) closed in Melbourne, Australia last night (Friday, 17 February) with Asian Racing Federation (ARF) Chairman Mr. Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges describing the conference as a “huge success.”
