Jockey Club appoints Mr Moray Taylor-Smith as Executive Director, Security, Integrity and Information Security

The Hong Kong Jockey Club announced today (8 January) the promotion of Mr Moray Taylor-Smith to the position of Executive Director, Security, Integrity and Information Security with effect from 15 January 2024.   

Mr Taylor-Smith will be a member of the Board of Management and report directly to the Club’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges.

Mr Taylor-Smith will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment across the Club and preserving integrity by combatting criminality and corruption risks that can threaten the Club’s businesses.  He will also be responsible for mitigating the risk to intangible Club assets, including its reputation and customer confidence, and intellectual property. 

Through the newly established Information Security Risk and Assurance function, Mr Taylor-Smith will drive the strategy and policy in relation to information security, including cyber security. He will manage information security risks, including risk assessment, risk mitigation, risk monitoring and incident response. In addition he will be responsible for strengthening the Club’s incident management capability.

Mr Taylor-Smith joined the Club in January 2020, assuming the role of Director of Security & Integrity in March 2020. Since then, he has led the department in protecting the Club’s security and integrity, including during the extremely challenging conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic.   

Mr Taylor-Smith is the Co-Chair of the Hong Kong Chapter of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists, and a long-time member of the Asia Crisis and Security Group.

Prior to joining the Club, Mr Taylor-Smith was the Regional Head, Major Investigations and Financial Crime Threat Mitigation for HSBC in APAC. He was also previously the Regional Security Officer for Fidelity International.

Mr Taylor-Smith holds a Master Degree of Science in Security Management from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom.
