Club's "magical" training programme earns bronze award

11 September 2008

The Hong Kong Jockey Club has always considered staff development to be a key part of its corporate social responsibility, and the Club is among only a few organisations in Hong Kong that offer extensive training opportunities to their part-time as well as full-time staff.  Today (11 September) the Club's contribution to investing in Hong Kong's workforce received new recognition when its training programme for part-time Telebet supervisors received the bronze prize in the Hong Kong Management Association Award for Excellence in Training 2008.

The winning programme, entitled "The Magic of We", was created to enable 320 part-time Telebet supervisors of different backgrounds and education levels to prepare for taking up management roles by understanding and identifying with the strategic goals of Telebet.

Phased over a period of seven months, the training programme not only equipped the supervisors with enhanced service and leadership skills, but also encouraged them to go beyond the call of duty as team management members by leading the front-line staff to deliver Telebet services of exceptional quality.  As a result, significant returns have been generated for the Club's Telebet Services Department through increased employee satisfaction levels.  This in turn has led to higher call utilisation rates and improved front-line service quality and customer satisfaction ratings.

At the same function, the Club's People Development Specialist Catherine Tong Ka-yi was presented with the "Distinguished Trainer" award, honouring her creative and outstanding performance in planning and delivering training programmes.
