HKFYG Jockey Club LEAD project showcases youngsters' creativity

12 July 2008

The inventiveness and ingenuity of Hong Kong's young people was amply demonstrated today (12 July) at the LEAD Creativity Showcase 2008, where students from kindergarten level upwards demonstrated projects featuring interactive motorised devices, animations and computer games on the "Magical Forest" theme. Hong Kong Jockey Club Executive Director, Charities, William Y Yiu and Secretary for the Environment Edward Yau were among officiating guests at the opening ceremony.

In total, some 800 students from 32 community groups, kindergartens, primary and secondary schools took part in today's event, held at The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Jockey Club LEAD Centre at Cyberport. All the participants have joined the Leading through Engineering, Art and Design Project (LEAD), organised by Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups with the support of HK$13.81 million donation from The Hong Kong Jockey Club in 2006. This year's Creativity Showcase featured 50 exhibits created to share students' concept of an imaginary "Magical Forest", expressed through technology, science, engineering, multimedia, art and music. Visitors were able to vote for their favourite and join creative workshops organised by LEAD.
