Jockey Club launches second phase of a£á?Striding Ona£á? programme with arts and culture theme

09/08/2017

Following the launch of the “Striding On” community betterment programme and its key activity the “Striding On - 21-Day Challenge” in July, The Hong Kong Jockey Club announced today (8 September) the roll out of Phase Two of this programme, which is themed around arts and culture. The programme encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to take on new challenges and embrace new perspectives.

Spearheading today’s Phase Two launch was a new online video “Striding On - Spirit of the Arts”, featuring superstar Aaron Kwok. This inspirational video depicts Kwok’s touching story of how he managed to overcome the many challenges he encountered on his journey of transformation from a dancer to a singer, then an award-winning actor. Through Kwok’s story of endurance and dedication in times of evolving change, the Club hopes to encourage Hong Kong citizens to pursue continuous personal development so as to achieve breakthroughs in their lives.

Additional elements for the “Striding On - 21-Day Challenge” were also made available online today so that registrants can embrace more new perspectives. They will be encouraged to complete online coaching lessons and tasks under three areas of challenges - dancing, creativity and music - under the “mentorship” of three renowned masters, namely sought-after choreographer Sunny Wong, “McMug’s Mom” Alice Mak and award-winning musician Leon Ko.  The Phase One challenges will also continue, with both phases running until the end of December for registration.

Apart from embracing new skills and knowledge, participants will also be benefiting the community, which echoes the Club’s spirit of “progressing together for a better future” with Hong Kong people.  For the first 10,000 participants who have registered for a challenge, the Club will make a donation of HK$365 per person to the Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF if the whole challenge is successfully completed.

The first phase of the “Striding On” programme, launched in July, was themed around sports and healthy living and also led by three local icons - Hong Kong’s first female world champion cyclist Sarah Lee, world-class boxer Rex Tso, and champion jockey Joao Moreira. The three sporting masters encouraged participants to take on new challenges such as building up leg muscles, working out at home, and healthy eating.
