The International Chinese New Year Night Parade tonight (28 January) attracted more than a hundred thousand spectators, including many tourists. With its theme of “Galloping Horse Illuminates the New Year”, The Hong Kong Jockey Club float was one of the parade highlights. Apprentice jockey Kei Chiong, winner of the 2015/16 Tony Cruz Award and Most Popular Jockey Award, and Raena Leung, HKJC Equestrian Team rider, joined the Club’s parade team, greeting crowds and receiving an overwhelming response in return.

Accompanying the Club’s float, the HKJC parade team comprised a group of young dancers from the Project Dance Studio of The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups who joined with a lion dance troupe to present a lively Hip-hop Lion Dance. Meanwhile, the Club’s Progressing Together Cheering Team, dressed in their Chinese New Year outfits, proved a big hit with spectators along the parade route.

The HKJC float combined cut-out art - a traditional Chinese art form - with advanced LED lighting technology. Its centrepiece was a magnificent golden galloping horse. This theme reflected how the Club has brightened Hong Kong’s community life over many years and how it remains committed to creating a brighter future for Hong Kong.

To share the festive atmosphere, a special “Let’s Catch Good Fortune” game is available on the Club’s website 203.215.253.53/goodfortune from now until 31 January. Everyone is welcome to create a series of unique Fai Chun messages to share with friends and family through social media.
