Hong Kong Equestrian Team member Kenneth Cheng won two Silvers in the 2015 LONGINES China Tour HKJC Cup Guangzhou Final

The three-day 2015 China Tour HKJC Cup Guangzhou Final, sponsored by The Hong Kong Jockey Club, features more than twenty riders from Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, the Mainland and Hong Kong, taking part in a number of high-level competitions.
 
In today’s competitions, HKJC Equestrian Team member Kenneth Cheng won a silver medal in the LONGINES Grand Prix and took another silver medal in The Hong Kong Jockey Club Champion Competition.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Club’s Deputy Chairman Anthony W K Chow said that The Hong Kong Jockey Club, as a sports organisation, is pleased to support equestrian sport in Mainland China.  “Equestrian sport in Mainland China is thriving. The Club is delighted to have agreed further areas of strategic cooperation with the Chinese Equestrian Association (CEA) in May this year. In addition to continuing our title sponsorship of the China Tour HKJC Cup Guangzhou in the coming years, the Club will also work with the CEA to stage the China Horse Racing Grand Prix, with the aim of developing more interest in, and support for, equestrian and cultural development in Mainland China”, said Mr Chow.
 
German rider Franke Sloothaak, who won The Hong Kong Jockey Club Champion Competition today, has found Hong Kong riders got progress in recent years. “I have met Hong Kong riders in different competitions and they performed better and better. With the Club’s sponsorship, the Hong Kong riders are able to receive training and join competitions in Europe. This kind of experiences is really important in enhancing their skills”, Mr Sloothaak said.
 
As title sponsor and venue sponsor of this year’s event, the Club also funded and built the international standard equestrian competition arena inside the Guangdong Huangcun Sports Training Centre. This modern sporting facility will further enhance the safety of riders and horses.

The China Tour is organised by the Chinese Equestrian Association. This year it consists of four legs held in Shanghai, Beijing, Dalian and Guangzhou. The HKJC Cup Guangzhou Final, sponsored by the Club, is a 3-star jumping competition accredited by the Fi?¢Xdi?¢Xration Equestre Internationale (FEI), with competitions at different levels.
