South China claims the 2015 HKJC Community Cup

09/20/2015

More than 4,000 football fans saw South China beat Kitchee 2 to 0 to claim the 2015 Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Cup at Mongkok Stadium today (20 September). In this Club-sponsored tournament, also the first title of this season, the winners and runners-up received prize money of HK$250,000 and HK$100,000 respectively.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Cup is a unique event that combines football with community engagement. Apart from the elite match between two top teams, young players under 13 are also invited to take part for an inspiring and high-level competing experience.

The Club’s sponsorship covers prize money plus a sum to be shared among the seven other Premier League clubs to promote local football development. In addition, the Club’s donation also benefits society as a whole, as a portion of the sponsorship and net proceeds of the match were donated to charities chosen by Kitchee and South China, namely the United Christian Hospital and Homeless World Cup (HK). Also benefiting were one thousand students and less-privileged people who received free tickets to the game sponsored by the Club.
