02/04/2013

The Hong Kong Jockey Club continues its commitment to local sports development with a further HK$5 million donation to support the 4th Hong Kong Games to be held in late April.  This biennial sports event aims to promote the culture of “Sport for All” in all 18 Districts by encouraging the public to actively participate in sports, strengthen their sense of belonging to the district they live in, and enhance community cohesion.

Today (4 February), Club Steward Anthony W K Chow joined Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing, Honorary Presidents of the 4th Hong Kong Games Timothy Fok and Ip Kwok-him as well as representatives from the 18 District Councils and various sports associations to attend the 4th Hong Kong Games Pledging Ceremony cum Press Conference.

As the Principal Contributor of the Games for two consecutive years, the Club is also the title sponsor of the futsal games and athletics games.  It will provide a good opportunity for athletes to compete while encouraging more people to establish a positive and healthy lifestyle.

The 4th Hong Kong Games will be held from 27 April to 2 June with eight sports competitions – athletics, badminton, basketball, futsal, swimming, table tennis, tennis and volleyball.  Each District Council will select talented athletes within its own district to participate in the competitions, so as to encourage more people to participate and enjoy the sports.
