Jockey Club CEO elected Asian Racing Federation Vice-Chairman

The Asian Racing Federation has elected Mr Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s CEO, as a Vice-Chairman at an Executive Council meeting held at this week’s Asian Racing Conference.

Mr Engelbrecht-Bresges shares the vice-chairmanship alongside The Honourable Michael Duffy of Australia, for the period from July 2012 to May 2014.

The ARF Executive Council also approved the transference of the ARF Secretariat from Australia to Hong Kong from August 2012.

“I am honoured that the Executive Council has chosen me to fill this position as Vice-Chairman and I am delighted to have this opportunity to work closely with Dr Sato and Mr Duffy,” said Mr Engelbrecht-Bresges, adding, “it is also pleasing that Hong Kong will host the Secretariat and I welcome the Council’s decision.” 

ARF Chairman Dr Koji Sato said: “I am delighted to welcome Mr Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges and The Honourable Michael Duffy as Vice-Chairmen of the Executive Council.

“I am very pleased that the Hong Kong Jockey Club will host the ARF Secretariat and that it has nominated Andrew Harding as the Secretary-General.”
