Futsal finals a highlight of Club-sponsored 3rd Hong Kong Games

05/30/2011

As Principal Contributor to the 3rd Hong Kong Games, The Hong Kong Jockey Club has donated HK$3.5 million through its Charities Trust to support the event.  On 29 May, the Club's Chief Executive Officer Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges joined Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive Donald Tsang to witness the final of the futsal competition and present medals to the winners.

Long committed to fostering local sports development, the Club hopes to encourage local residents to establish a positive and healthy lifestyle by actively participating in sport, strengthen their sense of belonging to their districts, and enhance community cohesion.

The Club's donation covers three main programmes of the Games, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Futsal Competition, the Training of Athletes in 18 Districts and Elite Athletes Demonstration and Exchange.

The Club is also funding this summer's Jockey Club Youth Football Scheme, organised by the Hong Kong Football Association, which will run from July to October. The programme will provide systematic training for young people and instil in them the virtues of sportsmanship, fair play, team spirit and discipline.  Talented young players will have the opportunity for further football training.
