3 July 2010

Hong Kong Jockey Club Equestrian Team rider Patrick Lam has received the Chief Executive's Commendation for Community Service in recognition of his achievements in equestrian sports.

The commendation is included in the HKSAR Government's 2010 Honours List announced on July 1.

"I am extremely honored to have been accorded in the 2010 Honours List and want to thank you for supporting me and trusting my professional qualities. Your support means a lot to me. It is the recognition of my hard work during the last years." Lam said after acknowledging the honour from Germany, where he is training.  He said his next aim was to achieve good results in the equestrian events of the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games.

With the support of the Club's sponsorship, Lam, together with fellow team members Kenneth Cheng, Samantha Lam and junior team member Jacqueline Lai, won one gold and two bronze medals at the 11th National Games of the People's Republic of China last October.

The strong team helped write a new chapter in the history of equestrian sport in Hong Kong by claiming the HKSAR's first equestrian medals at the National Games.
