Club unveils East Asian Games volunteer uniform

30 October 2009

The Hong Kong Jockey Club's Executive Director, Charities, William Y Yiu, assisted by six volunteers, unveiled the official uniform of the Club-funded 2009 East Asian Games Volunteer Programme today (30 October).  Noting that this was the first time Hong Kong had hosted a large-scale international multi-sports event, Mr Yiu stressed the importance of volunteers in making the Games a success.  He believed the volunteers who came from all walks of life would fully utilise the knowledge and skills they had learnt from the training programme.  Added to their expertise in different fields, this would make the Games a smooth-running and enjoyable experience for both athletes and the public.

The Club has donated HK$40 million to the organisers of the 2009 East Asian Games as Principal Contributor.  This donation also covers two other programmes, namely the sponsorship of education tickets for students, and the construction of The Hong Kong Jockey Club International BMX Park, which will be officially opened tomorrow.
