Club-funded outdoor twin-lift system improves access to United Christian Hospital

15 April 2008

In order to provide safer and more convenient public access to the United Christian Hospital (UCH), The Hong Kong Jockey Club has donated HK$11.47 million to UCH to install an outdoor twin-lift system, connecting the hospital with its downhill entrance at Hip Wo Street. An opening ceremony of the lift tower was held today, with Club Chairman John C C Chan and Hospital Authority Chairman Anthony Wu as officiating guests.

The Club has long been an ardent supporter of Hong Kong's medical service development and over the years has donated HK$58.8 million to UCH to support its hospital extension work and the replacement of rundown medical equipment. "We hope this twin-lift system will provide a more convenient and comfortable access to the hospital for local residents, particularly the aged, the disabled, the sick and the frail," Mr Chan said at today's ceremony.
