New elements at Club's Equestrian Pavilion combine learning with shopping fun

31 January 2008

As part of the efforts to promote the theme of Green Olympics, The Hong Kong Jockey Club has added new exhibition panels at the Equestrian Pavilion at Penfold Park, building around the Club's green initiatives for the Olympic equestrian events.  Visitors to the pavilion can now find information on the vermicomposting process being used by the Club to turn stable wastes into organic fertiliser; the use of recycled materials in the construction of the equestrian venues; and the conservation and energy-saving measures being implemented for the events.

Meanwhile, the Club has opened its third Olympic Official Licensed Retail Store at the Equestrian Pavilion, in addition to the two other retail stores at Sha Tin Racecourse and the HKJC Headquarters building at Happy Valley. Visitors to any of these three stores can now purchase their favourite Olympic items, including badges and soft toys featuring the five Fuwa Olympic mascots, as well as a selection of equestrian-themed souvenirs.
