Chief Executive and 10,000th visitor at Equestrian Pavilion on same day

28 November 2007

Chief Executive Donald Tsang paid a visit to the Jockey Club's Equestrian Pavilion in Penfold Park on 27 November and was impressed to learn that the Pavilion had welcomed its 10,000th visitor earlier the same day - just over three weeks after it first opened!

The Chief Executive was shown around the Pavilion's interactive exhibits by the Club's CEO Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges and Kim Mak, Executive Director Corporate Development, accompanied by a group of schoolchildren from neighbouring Sha Tin.

"Visits to the Equestrian Pavilion by schools and groups from all districts not only can enrich the public's knowledge of Olympic equestrian events, but also allow the community to feel the Olympic atmosphere and share the joy of Hong Kong being an Olympic co-host city," Mr Tsang said.

On the same day, Wang Yu-Ping became the 10,000th visitor to the Equestrian Pavilion. The fifth-year student at St Matthew's Lutheran School in Sau Mau Ping was presented with a special certificate and souvenir by the Club mascot to celebrate the occasion.

It was a big surprise for schoolgirl Wang Yu-Ping when the Club mascot told her that she was the 10,000th visitor to the Pavilion but she was delighted to accept her official certificate and a basket full of cuddly toys to mark the occasion.
