HKJC Equestrian Fun Gallery, Horseplay Welcome in HK Olympic Live Site during Games

9 August 2008

The Hong Kong Jockey Club is welcoming kids and adults alike to indulge in horse-related fun during the Olympic Games at Victoria Park.

The Club's games, which quiz people on their horse knowledge and test their agility, are featured at the Olympic Live Site at Victoria Park from 8-24 August. Visitors can also try grooming a life-size model horse. On display are 3-D mini models of the Olympic equestrian venues that the Club built, which include a cross-country course at Beas River and Sha Tin's arenas and spacious stables for over 200 priceless equine athletes. The Club's exhibition booth also has photos showing the Olympic equestrian venues and a beginner's guide to the Olympic equestrian disciplines.

The Club's Equestrian Youth Ambassadors will be on hand to explain the exhibits to tourists and visitors and answer questions about Olympic equestrian sports. On weekends and on the Live Site's opening day of 8 August and closing day of 24 August, the Club's friendly equestrian mascot will welcome the public and pose for photographs.

Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Olympic Live Site provide people with an opportunity to celebrate the historic Beijing Games and show off their Olympic spirit, even if they cannot attend any Olympic events in person. The site will have live broadcasts of the Olympic competitions and opening and closing ceremonies on giant screens, plus daily entertainment and cultural performances. All activities are free.
