Photos Release - HKJC's Mother's Day Carnival in Tin Shui Wai

11 May 2008

The Hong Kong Jockey Club and Yuen Long District Council today (11 May) jointly hosted Tin Shui Wai's biggest-ever Mother's Day Carnival at Tin Shui Wai Sports Ground under the banner of " Honour our Mothers, Welcome our Motherland's first Olympics" to celebrate this happy festival with residents in the district.  About 5,000 Tin Shui Wai residents were attracted to the event, which came to a successful end at 5:00 pm.

Apart from the huge response from the Tin Shui Wai residents, 29 non-government organisations that actively serve the district gave their support to the carnival by organising game booths or performances at the event.  In total there were 16 fabulous stage performances and some 30 family- or Olympic-themed games, as well as the ever-popular inflatable games and labyrinths, parent-child athletic competitions and numerous Olympic-related outdoor child activities.  There were also two DIY handicraft workshops where children could produce free Mother's Day gifts on the spot for their mothers, which helped enhance family ties in the community.

In addition there was an exhibition on the Olympic equestrian events where visitors were thrilled to pose for photos with four adorable Shetland ponies provided by the Club.
