Club Chairman awarded Gold Bauhinia Star

The Hong Kong Jockey Club is delighted that the Club's Chairman, Dr Simon S O Ip, has been awarded a Gold Bauhinia Star in this year's honours list.  In its citation the Government identified Dr Ip’s longtime contributions to the community, in particular to the Hong Kong Jockey Club and to promote the development of equestrian sport.

“Mr Ip is awarded the GBS in recognition of his long and distinguished public and community service, in particular his significant contributions to the Hong Kong Jockey Club and promoting the development of equestrian sport in Hong Kong. Under Mr Ip’s leadership, the Hong Kong Jockey Club has advanced as a world leader in the provision of horse racing as well as a premier charity and the largest community benefactor in Hong Kong. Mr Ip also actively participated in various advisory boards and committees and has provided valuable advice to the Government on a wide range of policy issues, particularly in the areas of legal services and education.” [Citation, HKSAR Government]

The Board of Stewards, Board of Management, and the Club's employees extend their warmest congratulations to Dr Ip. They are proud of this achievement and grateful for the support of the Club's members and community partners in working together for the betterment of our society.
