11/02/2015

Hong Kong Jockey Club Chief Executive Officer Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges joined Director of Leisure and Cultural Services Michelle Li and other guests to officiate at the re-opening ceremony of the Hong Kong Stadium turf pitch today (2 November).

The Hong Kong Stadium Turf Pitch Reconstruction Project, funded by the Club’s Charities Trust, was completed in mid-July and has been handed over to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department for turf establishment and management and maintenance.

According to Mr Engelbrecht-Bresges, the Club has long been committed to supporting local sports development.  He was glad that the stadium was reopen for public use after the reconstruction of its pitch.  He said the Club was pleased to share its expertise and experience in turf track construction and management and implemented the reconstruction project with the Government, so as to enhance the quality of the pitch and strengthen Hong Kong’s ability to host international sports events.
