08/31/2014

More than 4,000 people attended the first Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Cup held at Mongkok Stadium today (31 August). In this Club-sponsored pre-season tournament, South China beat Kitchee to claim the Cup. The winners and runners-up received prize money of HK$250,000 and HK$100,000 respectively.

As a staunch supporter of local football development, the Club contributed HK$1million to sponsor the Community Cup, which heralds the inaugural Hong Kong Premier League. The Community Cup not only supports local football development, but also benefits the community at large, as a portion of the sponsorship and net proceeds of the match were donated to charities chosen by Kitchee and South China, namely United Christian Hospital and the Society for Community Organization. In addition, thanks to sponsored free tickets donated by the Club, three hundred people from low-income or ethnic minority families had chance to enjoy and experience today’s  football excitement at the stadium today.
