Jockey Club helps launch online service to give service groups immediate access to volunteers

04/24/2014

With the launch of a Jockey Club Charities Trust-funded website, volunteering opportunities are just a click away. Service groups in need can simply log on to easyvolunteer.hk to recruit helpers for community work. The online platform is a new initiative of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant: Youth Volunteer Network (VNET), which has been funded by the Trust with more than HK$40 million since 2005.

Today (24 April), the Club’s Executive Director, Charities, Douglas So joined Secretary for Food and Health Dr Ko Wing-man, The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) Executive Director Dr Rosanna Wong, Standing Committee Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Bauhinia Foundation Research Centre Director Anthony Wu and artiste Sheren Tang to attend the launching ceremony of the easyvolunteer.hk online platform.

The website, open to all potential volunteers and service groups, provides volunteer matching and training services. It also enables users to keep service records so that ‘high-fliers’ can be rewarded. So far, more than 1,000 people have signed up and nearly 300 volunteering opportunities have been offered by around 200 social service organisations.

Since 1965, the Trust has donated over HK$476 million to HKFYG for various programmes.
