The Hong Kong Jockey Club revealed an exciting new addition to its range of digital racing offerings today, when it launched the ‘Racing Touch’ App on International Jockeys’ Championship night at Happy Valley Racecourse with the help of local legend and successful racehorse owner Aaron Kwok.
The launch of Racing Touch is the latest stage in the Club’s digital development programme, coming a year after the introduction of ‘ibu’, the world’s largest multi-touch entertainment table interface, which is located in adrenaline at Happy Valley Racecourse. Given the popularity of ibu, it was a natural step to make many of the features of that big table experience available to a much wider audience, hence the introduction of Racing Touch, designed for the very latest technology via the iPad Air and iPad mini with retina display.
Racing Touch is a graphically-rich horse racing and betting mobile application, allowing customers and racing fans to study relevant information for every race in a brand new way. Its features include incredible life-like horse graphics matching the actual colour and markings of each runner they represent and the ability to ‘like’ a horse and add it to one’s favourites index on the App.
Explaining the thinking behind Racing Touch, Executive Director, Customer and Marketing of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Richard Cheung said: “It is no secret that the way in which we are all consuming our information is changing. The number of 3G and 4G mobile customers has doubled in Hong Kong in less than three years, and many of us now seem to run our lives via digital devices.”
He added: “Our customers and racing fans are no different and with Racing Touch we are packaging racing information in a visually attractive way that appeals to digital savvy adult consumers of all ages. We are always striving to develop innovative and interactive digital channels, as witnessed by our iPhone and Android applications and the introduction of the ibu table here at Happy Valley Racecourse last year. This is the latest stage of that process and I am delighted with the end result.”
Aaron Kwok commented: “Racing Touch is a great idea and superbly designed. As almost everyone knows, I am a racing fan myself, and anything that can help more people to understand this amazing sport better gets my support.”
Anyone with a registered Hong Kong Apple ID can download Racing Touch free of charge from the App Store via their iPad. Customers who hold a betting account with The Hong Kong Jockey Club will be able to place bets via Racing Touch.
