Join in great fun at Jockey Club Pre-Season Carnival

Sha Tin Racecourse will be buzzing with excitement again this summer, as the Club’s annual Pre-Season Carnival will be held on Saturday 31 August (Photo 1).  Tickets will be available for sale from 13 August onwards and early booking is strongly advised, as this hugely popular family event is almost always a sell-out.

New initiatives this year will include workshops conducted by a world renowned magician, two world clown champions and a much-loved celebrity, promising young guests and their families a fun-packed day with some valuable learning experiences.  There will also be huge inflatables, must-visit game booths, parent-child workshops and themed photo corners (Photos 2, 3, 4).

Among the interactive games and workshops on offer will be:

• Gloria’s Clay Art Workshops – An enthusiast of hand-made clay art, celebrity Gloria Yip (Photo 5) will teach her skills to visiting children and inspire their creativity.
• Junior Magician Campus – Guinness World Record-holding magician Avon Lee (Photo 6) will entertain visitors with his amazing magical powers and teach young participants a few magic tricks themselves, to add to their fun and develop their self-esteem.
• World-class Clowns – With their coloured wigs, vivid make-up and outlandish costumes, Champions of the World Clown Competition Ashida (Noisy Chao Chao) (Photo 7) and Kenneth Ng (Photo 8) will showcase their skills to delight children and adults alike.
• LEGO Creative Zone – LEGO bricks can be assembled and connected in many different ways that help inspire children's imagination and creativity.  LEGO veterans from the Legend Bricks will showcase two of their latest masterpieces created specially for the occasion, a mini-Parade Ring and mini-stable.  Children will have lots of opportunities to enjoy the fun of building LEGO creations themselves.
• Rody Riding & Limited Edition Exhibition – Children's favourite Rody wonderland will exhibit a giant 13-foot high horse together with over 30 limited edition items.  Selected Rody products will be offered at a special discount of up to 50% exclusively for the Carnival, while a range of crossover specialities will go on sale the same day.  Children can test their balancing and physical co-ordination by hopping on inflatable horse toys.

Other highlights for horse lovers will include:

• Shetland Pony Ride and Care Area - A unique opportunity to learn how to care for pets by patting, grooming and even riding these adorable mini-horses (Photos 9, 10).
• Jockeys’ Sprint - The annual Jockeys’ Sprint will feature the unforgettable sight of jockeys racing barefoot on the turf (Photo 11).
• Grass Trial - A fully-fledged pre-season grass trial will offer visitors a sneak preview of the new season's opening day on 8 September (Photo 12).

The Pre-Season Carnival is open to the public of all ages.  Ticket combo will go on sale from 13 August at 40 designated Off-Course Betting Branches*, while stocks last.  Each ticket combo costs HK$40 and includes an admission coupon (HK$10), a food and beverage coupon (HK$10), two game coupons (HK$10 each), and a lucky draw coupon.  There is no admission charge for children aged three or below.

Complimentary shuttle buses will run between Sha Tin MTR Station (boarding point next to the Pai Tau Village Leisure and Cultural Services Headquarters) and the Racecourse at 15-minute intervals between 11:30 am and 8:30 pm.
