Enjoy a free, fun-filled family arts and fun day out at Sha Tin Racecourse Penfold Park

11/21/2011

In keeping with its long-standing support for community programmes in Hong Kong, including the promotion of happy and harmonious family relationships, The Hong Kong Jockey Club is organising a Sha Tin FAMILY Arts and Fun Day at Sha Tin Racecourse Penfold Park, on Saturday 3 December.

The Sha Tin FAMILY Arts and Fun Day is one of the community programmes organised under the "FAMILY: A Jockey Club Initiative for a Harmonious Society" project, which is aimed at promoting the message of family health, happiness and harmony (3Hs) in the local community.

The park in the infield of Sha Tin Racecourse will be transformed into a carnival setting with interactive and family games (photos 1/ 2), DIY workshops (photos 3/ 4) and pony rides (photo 5), as well as photo opportunities with the Club's adorable Shetland ponies (photo 6), ensuring a fun-filled day for all the family.

Visitors will also be able to get a taste of the unique international party atmosphere of the upcoming Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Races, an event that captures sports fans’ attention worldwide.

Apart from offering games, the Fun Day will include exhibitions of works created by Jack Li and Ko Nam, members of the Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong, who won the gold medals at the 2011 International Abilympics in the Photography-Studio and Painting categories respectively.

Not-to-be-missed exhibition items include winning art pieces created by the Club’s farriers in a competition that required all entries to be made out of recycled horseshoes (photos 7/ 8). There will also be a display of art works designed by artists at the nearby Fo Tan art studios, by teachers and students from the Jockey Club Ti-I College, and by Chocolate Rain, a local design house well-known for its popular doll figure Fatina.

All in all, the Sha Tin FAMILY Arts and Fun Day promises to be a perfect weekend gathering activity for the whole family.  Admission is free but by pre-booked ticket only, available through online registration at the Club website 203.215.253.53 from 23 November.
