Club supports Haven of Hope Holistic Care Centre, providing comprehensive hospice services

4 December 2009

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust has donated some HK$20 million to the Haven of Hope Christian Service to support the development of its holistic care centre in Tseung Kwan O.  The six-storey centre provides a wide range of services to the frail elderly and patients with chronic illness or late-stage cancer, including 24-hour specialist-led medical and nursing care, psychosocial and spiritual care, home care services, short-term rehabilitation care and respite care services. It helps meet the growing demand for a quality palliative service and end-of-life care in the light of an ageing population.

The Centre is well equipped with clinical floors, a beautiful roof garden, an integrated rehabilitation centre, a patient activity centre, a music therapy room, an art therapy room and a chapel, all of which provide the patients with a tranquil living environment.  In recognition of the Trust's donation, the roof garden has been named the "Jockey Club Healing Garden".
