27 August 2009

With funding of over HK$4.8 million from The Hong Kong Jockey Club through its Charities Trust, a group of 149 students from The Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) participated in an eight-week summer internship in Beijing.  The Club has been supporting Vocational Training Council to organise the Programme since 2007 which aims to enhance the students' vocational skills, strengthen their adaptability, broaden their horizons, hence increase their competitiveness. This year's participating students were placed at 43 different commercial and non-governmental organisations in accordance with their respective disciplines, which included Beijing Darwin International Hotel Property Management Co., Ltd. and Advantech Co., Ltd.  To encourage the students to equip themselves and embrace future challenges, Club's Executive Director, Charities, William Y Yiu, presented the "Outstanding Performance Award" to ten students.
